hi, i was in macv hq. as a radio operator, with gary panos, tom fisher, ben patino, wayne klemm, from nov. 66-nov 67. these photo's bring back a lot of memories, and i'll never forget sp/4 james hutton, mayu god rest his soul.

I served with Headquarters Battery 12 Marines as April of 1968as a radio operator when we moved from Danang to Dong Ha via convoy in the fall of 1966. I remember Major Al Gray was our commanding officer. Major Gray later became Genera Gray, and eventually served on the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President Reagan. Couple nam es I remember from our unit...Ron Inboden...Mike Lindop...Al Vogel...Ron Beard...Mike O'Malley.

I was 2nd sergeant to SFC Johnson in the Hue MACV supply room from Jan to Dec 1, 1967. Remember some names (Capt. Hansen, SSGT Rakebrand, MSGT Generazio, PFC Herrera, Corp Delgado, Col Kelley, Spec Sonntag, SSGT Preble) and many faces. I have a lot of photos of that time and would like to get them on the website. Great Website. Thanks.

I was stationed at the microwave/tropo site in Hue in 1968. We ate the MACV and drank a little at the club too. I still think about the steaks. It sure beats the canned rations!!

Just came across this site, brings back a lot of memories. I ran the APO at Hue MACV TM 3 from March of 66 into May of 67. Wasnt there for Tet, lucky me.

With USNMCB-8 Seabees at Gia Le just outside of Hue. Worked on the pipeline from Col Co to Phu Bai. Other various projects. Got there just in time for the start of Tet. Nice site!

Someone recently asked me what my connection was to the Vietnam war (webmaster of this site). My name is Bob Ambler. My connection to the Vietnam war: lost 3 of my closest friends in the war. I was turned down from entering the military in 1969 due to medical reasons. Have set up websites over the years for my vietnam veteran friends. I wasn't able to be there is person, but I was and am there in spirit.

I managed to enjoy the best of both fights. Twelve of us mortar men were sent to a school yard in Hue during the Tet Offensive of 1968. After Hue we were reunited with our unit in Khe Sahn. Our unit had been attached to 3/26
and we were on 105's and 4.2's there.

Serviced with Charlie 1/5, from Sep 67 - Nov 68. One of the few to survivors the Battle of Hue. The photos were moving, particularly the tank and wounded, that was my squad, I placed them on the tank to get the out of harms way and returned for the other wounded and dead. Commander at the scene were lacking in experience, etc... although no one was to blame as we were not trained for urban warfare

Thank You very much for the pictures of Hue, which were definitely taken pre-Tet.
I was with Headquarters Regional Communications Group (RCG) from 67-69. I was in Hue for Tet 68 and it was NO fun. I fought along side the Marines during that siege. I then went down to Saigon to my unit just outside of Tan Son Nhut Air Base. I did two tours in Nam.
